Hair Plug Anxiety? Not Anymore!
The distaste for baldness is so ingrained in human nature that men throughout history have frantically sought remedies. For a long time, the best that could be done was just to disguise it. The primitive hair plug transplant was greeted as a welcome improvement over the desperation of "comb over" hair styling. Becoming popular in the 1960's, it sure beat topical hair loss cures, hair restorers and hair strengtheners once the staple products of the traveling medicine shows of the 1800's that are still with us in the form of modern creams and lotions.
While these treatments had limited effectiveness, the hair plug transplant could be performed on anyone, men and women alike. Goodbye to hairpieces and hair weaving. You could actually have your very own hair again.
Along with the medical advancement, however, came "doll scalp" -- tufts of hair in neat rows something akin to a picket fence. At their best, most of these transplants simply looked like transplants with a patchy appearance. At their worst, many men found their hairline receding behind their grafts. They felt disfigured and betrayed.
If self-consciousness was a motivator in undergoing the procedure in the first place, it was certainly a factor in fueling the embarrassment of obvious visible results. Are these men stuck with their plugged pates forever?
There is a real solution to the problem remove the darn things altogether. For example, as one of the world?s most experienced hair restoration practices, Bosley has seen thousands of cases of dissatisfied patients with botched or unattractive hair transplantation. In many cases, the hairline is far too low.
With hair transplant revision, physicians have been able to eliminate previous plug implants, particularly along the hairline. After sufficient healing time, a new hairline is created with the patient's own hair from their "donor site" at the back of the head. Permanent, lifetime hairs are found here in good supply in virtually all men. They can be relocated, follicles and all, to the transplant site in an outpatient procedure. Men and women can now have the confidence and self-esteem that comes from hair that is natural in appearance.
The surgical procedure involving follicular unit transplantation requires rigorous standards and a high level of artistic excellence. In the right hands, the results can be excellent. Patient photos show the remarkable results of hairline transplant revision.
Before, Healing and After Photos are Available Upon Request
According to Ken Washenik, M.D., Ph.D. Medical Director of Bosley, "patients are overwhelmed with gratitude that they are not stuck with their unsightly hair plugs. What many didn't know is that they can virtually start over and get it right the second time."
Most hair transplantation clinics offer free consultations for anyone seeking correction and evaluation of their potential for the revision procedure as well as for first-time hair transplantation candidates.
