OrganicAthlete Champions Plant-Based Diet for Athletes
Many athletes want to know if a vegan diet is compatible with top athletic performance. While meat and protein are often associated with power and strength, many sports nutritionists and elite athletes agree that plant-based diet provides optimal nutrition. OrganicAthlete is a new nonprofit organization that is bringing together athletes of all ages and abilities and helping them to inspire others to learn about and promote healthy, plant-based diets and lifestyles.
To provide athletes with the information they need to spread the word about optimal health and nutrition, OrganicAthlete recently launched its new website at www.organicathete.org. The website serves as a resource for athletes and fitness enthusiasts interested in learning more about improving health and performance with a plant-based diet. The new OrganicAthlete website offers educational material including articles on health and nutrition, interviews with vegan athletes, and much more to come.
As an example for aspiring vegetarian athletes, the website also features updates from the all-vegetarian Ritchey/OrganicAthlete Elite Cycling Team. Through seminars, training rides, and athletic example, OrganicAthlete's team of "athlete activists" delivers the message that athletes can succeed on a plant-based diet. Vegetarian groups, athletic clubs, and other organizations can invite the OrganicAthlete Cycling Team to potlucks or events for informative talks by contacting the organization.
Athletes in any sport can join OrganicAthlete and the cycling team in promoting plant-based living. Members receive access to exclusive monthly online chats with vegetarian athletes and nutritionists, discounts on team merchandise, a monthly e-newsletter with training, diet, and lifestyle tips, and more.
